How OA. I’ve always fancied myself into thinking that yes, I’m very busy, and yes, I have no time to write – which is very much false because writing is what I do for a living.

Please welcome the company’s newest addition to this company’s copywriting team, ehem, yours truly!

Now the whole idea of being a writer for this company was incorporated into the system a month ago when the manager told me that yes, they have accepted my application, and no, I would no longer be working on graveyard hours. Now rewind a year back when that happened to me from ex-call center and months after I left because well, it was boring. Number One, this change of schedule is NOT boring. Number two, I do not take, make, release, fake, and disguise calls. (Did I just say that?)

Forget about what I posted earlier – it is just juvenile mumbo-jumbo that I actually dealt with when it was supposed to be discarded like that empty NARS powder case I have.

Two weekends ago, I missed my flight to CDO on October 30 because Cebu Pacific already closed the counters and allowed standby passengers to take our seats. I do not want to go into detail because it breaks my heart everytime I remember that scene where no Roa has ever done before. Gulp. Flashback to Andrea wagging her finger at the supervisor, yelling, “You will be hearing about this!” that afternoon and I could just shudder.

Cagayan de Oro was fun and wild!

Got back to Cebu after the weekend – this time an hour early, thanks Pop. I was also in time for Samsung’s Inquirer Lifestyle Series. Details here on the Fitness Fashion Show. You know you live in a call centure when:

CALL CENTURE (noun) 1. Pertaining to call center culture, 2. The culture assimilated by people who works in call centers

You don’t know how to get around the city during daytime and you’re wondering why the hell there are so many people at the mall at 3pm..
Tan? What tan?
Everytime you’re in front of a PC you can’t help but hit CTRL+ALT+DEL even if you’re inside an internet cafe
You used to be a 2 words per minute person now even your dad’s secretary can’t keep up with your typing.
All the controls in the PC you’ve memorized it down to pat: control C, V, X and B.
You murmur your verbiage in your sleep, hayup ka.
You pass on ice tea and coffee because it’s freely given at the vendo machine
Celebrities such as Nikki Gil you didn’t recognize but the Patels, the Smiths and the Johnsons you know
You don’t care that you’ve worn yesterday’s clothes when you went to the mall that morning
Your friends totally forget that you exist because the only time you text back is when they’re asleep
You listen to news on the radio especially when there’s a national crisis –you can’t rally against those people because abandoned calls are restricted
the person sitting next to you in the jeep that morning calls you by your first name only to realize you still have your ID on
…and this person is so fresh looking while you yourself look so harassed
Calls always end up with, “Thank you for calling, have a nice day.” even if it was just your mom
Only in your office can you find boy/girlfriends because you don’t have time to find one outside it
You’re having lunch at 3am on your restday and act like its the most normal thing in the world
…which means everything you do is always within 15 minutes: 15 minutes lunch, yosi break, power naps.. etc
Office clothes for you are jeans, a tank top, a sexy jacket and havaianas
Your friends are amazed when you ran into your boss in the mall and call him by his first name
…and even more bewildered when you talk jargon amongst your officemates, “Bai, yung nag-aftercall ako tumaas yung AHT ko kasi kelangan daw magavail dahil walang queue tapos ma-affected ang aux work ko.”
this is the only time where everyone wants to work on holidays because of the double pay.
You have never enjoyed the office’s Christmas Party because you need to get back in and take calls
All the reason in the world just to call in sick were made up by you, in fact, you’re starting out a book soon.
