Cebu Blog Camp, Take Two

by Kristine Roa | 549 views

Can you imagine a room full of people who spend half of their lives online fraternizing in avatars and lolspeak? The anticipation of meeting fellow bloggers offline drew to a conclusion at the 2011 Cebu Blog Camp last May at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu. There is everything particularly groundbreaking about the Cebu Blog Camp team who went all out with the preparations and groundwork to make this one day affair stellar.

Cebu Blog Camp 2011

Bloggers from Cebu and even all over the Philippines decided to turn this unconference into a fun meet and greet to break off the limitations of knowing only one another by his or her dotcoms. From writing about their adventures, stard wills, or even broken relationships, bloggers have one thing in common: the love for gab.

A Virgin of Boracay

by Kristine Roa | 1,059 views

I meant to say a virgin in Boracay but then again. You know what I mean.

This almost tiny looking island in Google map that housed thousands of tourists every month is probably a must-go, must-do and must-achieve item on anyone’s bucket list. Not that it completely surpasses (again) world peace and getting your life in order but Boracay looks so desirable to many it is almost obscene. The attraction borders on the need to revel, enjoy a tousled beach-hair look or just hang loose. It looks like a local version of Temptation Island except that the locals actually speak in Tagalog with a slice of Ilonggo on it and everything else also screams “third world”.

HALLOWEEN PARTY IN CEBU | EVENTS BLOG CEBU KRISTINE ROA

Morphing into Halloween Costumes

by Kristine Roa | 679 views

I have to say that I have to echo my friend Eden’s sentiments on dressing up for Halloween.

“Some outgrow them, some don’t.”

The idea of dressing up for Halloween and going to a Halloween party may sound juvenile to some but if you are in your 40s and never ever appreciated bunny ears and fake vampire fangs in your life then, yes, you would be one of those who do not liken to the idea of participating in this annual festival. I guess I would be one of those who will never outgrow Halloween and will forever continue to contribute to an affair that takes so much time, money and effort to be in it.

PEARL OF THE PACIFIC BORACAY

Pearl of The Pacific Pre-Valentine

by Kristine Roa | 260 views

How apt that we would get to celebrate Valentines on an island mostly revered for its white powdery sand and crystal-clear blue water. None of that actually is appealing at nighttime because for one, the sun has set and two, you can hardly make out anything in the beach anymore (unless you count those couples openly making out in public – which by the way, the island has rules against having sex openly on the beach) I have had a dress made for the occasion because I wanted Valentines this year to be cliche. Last year’s Valentines had been a dinner date at Gustavian which entirely gave me acid reflux for a week.

Happy 6th Anniversary Juice Bar!

by Kristine Roa | 1,027 views

How  timely is our visit when Juice Bar, a hip outdoor bar at Station 2,  Boracay Island, was celebrating their 6th Anniversary the night we went parasailing in Boracay. And waddayaknow – their beers are only P6! The catch though is that you have to buy beers with exactly P6 or you wouldn’t get ANY change at all. Cute marketing until we started stressing out because we ran out of P5 and P1 coins. Talk about hassle! Haha.

Juice Bar is practically home of most of the arts and crafts in Boracay. It’s in a pretty busy area located at the corner of the Plazoleta beside Regency Resort. The place plays mostly hiphop and R&B and is always the location for unforgettable nights of debauchery in the island. Read the rest of this entry »
