planet of the ex

Last Sunday when my beau was invited to his close friend’s baby’s christening, it was just natural that he would tag me along. (Hello, party!) Unfortunately, his friend is also friends with the ex. Now let’s call the ex Padfoot (you’ll understand why). Padfoot went to the friend who was having the baptismal party and said that it might not be a good idea to bring me along because she is still not over him blah blah and if I were coming she wouldn’t go at all and the people who are going to the party, too, might feel sorry for her blah blah and she is going to be embarrassed blah blah.

For the love of the Lord in Christ, this is not her party. She is not the host and she will never be one. My text message to her that day didn’t merit a reply but I’m not expecting any either because number one, the text message is in English and number two, I said everything that I needed to say: This is not your party and it is unfair of you to make **** choose between you and my boyfriend. How could you think of yourself when clearly this is all about the baby and not you.

Maybe she thinks she has enough star quality to hoard sympathy from the people. Sweetheart, they don’t care. My friend who was one of the godfathers at that party even asked, “Who is she?” He laughed after he found out who you were. See? You don’t stamp your mark on anyone’s brain registry.

The Valentine and That.

The boyfriend and I were at SM on Valentines Saturday when Bagyo Bising got heavier and we were forced to stay indoors and shopped the entire day. Not that I minded but that’s not the kind of indoor activity I was hoping for but hey, we can’t be choosy especially when a storm is in the way of your love life. The Valentine lunch (I think “The Valentine..” talk will have more following in this post) was at CNT, man, you can never take me away from that Cebu treat! :)

We got home at six and were too pooped to get up and join all that Valentine madness. I hate that SUN CELLULAR doesn’t have service at our apartment so The Valentine greeting and where-are-you-its-a-circus-here-they-need-an-acrobat messages were delayed. I’ve always voted for the Piolo, Sam Milby, Christian Bautista, and Mark Bautista concert that Valentine night at the Waterfront against the SITTI concert at the CICC – which I heard sucks because she CANNOT ever do concerts like Freestyle or Parokya ni Edgar (Hey Sitti, brush up on your airbrush jokes!) Instead, we spent Valentines eve dancing and meeting up with friends. Fun. No frills.

Love is the best job.

Oh. Hello. It’s the inevitable Valentine post for the love month. Last year I wasn’t so lucky with a relationship that foiled just when it was starting to get tough so yes, scratch that. But this year has been all good. I didn’t cross my fingers but it was all good. Right now, because I’m in a relationship, I’m vexed at looking for the a decent Valentines gift. I thought:

Don’t give him something gadget-y. It’s not his birthday. Don’t give him a photo frame of you or both of you in it. It’s fine when you are in your one month but more of those frames could send him out of the door. No relationship guy is that vain. Don’t do the polo shirts and the caps and the jerseys. Again, save those for his birthday.

See, Valentines is all about the both of you – the we part that can only be validated if you:

1. cook home made dinner

 2. hand him tickets to a show that you two will watch together and of course, something you both love

3. stay overnight at Abaca Resorts

4. do that Skywalk Adventure in Crown Regency

5. indulge his vain side with grooming products and expensive pampering caprices

6. run a hot bath with scented candles around it – massage parlor baby!

7. shower him with intimate bedroom gifts *wink*

8. or a his and hers novelty gift – pillows, mugs, Truffles!

9. plan a trip to Bantayan!

Ah… what to do? Haha. Three more days, people. Enjoy your Valentine.:)

Love is work… but it is the best job in the world.
