Cabanlet-Ong Nuptial

I never really got to talk about my friend’s wedding that happened last year. I guess it took a while for that to sink in just as how I’m still trying to internalize another good friend of mine’s wedding. But then, do we really have all that time?

Sobie and JB go a long way back. And I’m not talking about years here. But YEARS. We were in our fourth year in high school when JB and Sobie brought on the holding hands gig and made everyone talk. I didn’t. I was too liberated for that. I gave them both a pat on the back and now that they are married, I couldn’t help but cry.

Yes, I cried at Sobie’s wedding and I’ll cry at every damn wedding that involves any of my bestest friends. What does Sobie know about getting married? She’s 27 and giggly and hides any of my stuff whenever she gets the chance. She thinks it is funny if one pair of your sandals is gone and you’d scramble around looking for it. Till now she still hides my stuff and she will forever be our darling Sobie.

Funny how we have all grown up together for eight years with you both witnessing how we your friends subscribe to happiness in failed relationships yet lest bemoan the breakups we have had to endure. But you both have always been there – together – never faltering – never breaking up – and somehow, we all knew that you both will end up here, in this church, and letting everyone realize that there is hope for the rest of us – that somehow, we all know that we would find someone to never falter with.

We love you. Read the rest of this entry »

What I learned during Sinulog 2010

February 2nd, 2010 Kristine Roa Posted in Events, Kristine Roa, Red Letter Days, Sinulog 1 Comment » 291 views

Happy February! Sorry for the late post. Been to Cagayan de Oro again last weekend for my friend’s wedding. Will be posting that soon. Meanwhile, I just have to post my preemptive Sinulog blog.

Have anyone been ready for last month’s Sinulog festivities? Not that it requires TOO much effort to do that but when last year I attempted on  what are the essentials and the must-haves you must tote around with you come the Sinulog 2010 Mardi Gras/Street Parties, I was not really doing so much this year.

1. Stampede-ready shoes. It is highly unlikely that a stampede happens during Sinulog street parties but a stampeded usually means a scream fest because a Kapamilya celebrity is waving at them from their floats.
2. Sunblock. Carry one not wear it!
3. Water. Water. Water.
4. Street-Party light. This means that the lighter, the better. If you feel the need to carry essentials such as extra t-shirts, alcohol, cotton swabs, leave them in the car. Sling or messenger bags help keep you from worrying where you last placed your stuff.
5. Camera! Even if you didn’t sign up for the Sinulog Photo Contest and paid P650 for the PRESS ID, you can still get very beautiful stills even at the sidelines and viewing decks.
6. Lipgloss. Instant retouch, anyone? :)
7. Scholl for a bunion-free life!

Boyfie pissed at being late. Teehee. Headed straight to Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) to watch Tom Woodfin’s fight.

Kul Kitchen at the IT Park

When my friends told me I’m the customer from hell, they meant that waiters and busboys would run away at the sight of me. I thought they were just exaggerating. Because I hate crappy service, I can’t help but rant at the poor things. Just like my other love Warren used to say, “You get what you pay!” It is pretty expensive to be dining in fancy places all day so once or twice you’d end up dining in Cebu in fastfood chains like KFC and small restaurants like KUL Kitchen.

Tsim Sha Tsui at the Ayala Terraces Cebu

When the boyfriend and I had our usual “Us Sunday” two weekends ago, where Sundays are only spent alone and cellphones are ignored just in case family and friends text/call (sorry Mom!), we watched Sherlock Holmes at Ayala before heading out to dinner. Instead of our favorite ribs at Casa Verde, we headed to this new place at the Ayala  Terraces Cebu, Tsim Sha Tsui and spelled just like the streets in Yau Tsim Mong district in Kowloon, Hongkong.

I remember getting lost at Tsim Sha Tsui in Hongkong before because I had a hard time pronouncing the place but the Tsim Sha Tsui waitress at the Terraces Cebu was enough quick to help us say, “Jim Sa Joy”. Make it sound like your a local and hope for the best.

Boasting of its fuchsia and green bursts of color which Cebu fashion designer Phillip Rodriguez designed, the dimsum and tea bar has its own all-you-can-eat dimsum buffet at their conveyor belt.

Perhaps I will write the quintessential new year’s resolutions list but for now, let me show photos of our latest holiday trip in where else but Cagayan de Oro! Hahaha. I need to be somewhere else besides Cagayan de Oro this year. Tsk tsk. Now that could be one new year thing.

Happy Holidays!

The annual Christmas Party of the company that has been planned since the start of December went underway last December 12 at the Maribago Bluewater, Mactan.

Maribago Bluewaters

Why company decided to hold a Christmas party at the beach is beyond me but in all honesty, I can really see that everyone had fun. My point was that during the entire 2009 phase, we all have had parties at beaches – Costabella, Portofino, etc – and spending Christmas on the beach doesn’t make the last party of the year any different. Oh well. We did have fun, begrudgingly. Haha.

Got caught eating chocolate ahaha :) Read the rest of this entry »
