When my friend Andrea made me take photos of their hot product (I mean that literally), I couldn’t resist telling you all about this!

Shiga Chili Garlic Sauce at Cagayan de Oro

Shiga Chili Garlic Sauce Cagayan de Oro

SHIGA (please read the rest of the text below) is made out of chili garlic sauce. It is naturally for chili lovers out there. I tried a pinch – get this – a pinch and my entire esophagus burned for an entire week. Exag, I know. But you get me.

Email me at kristine@theglamarazzi.com if you have any questions. This retails at P150 but perhaps I could be wrong. :)

Happy New Year!

Rose, the Masseuse

November 13th, 2009 Kristine Roa Posted in Cagayan de Oro, La Familia 7 Comments » 632 views

I remember when I was still living with my parents and I haven’t heard of spas and massage parlors yet because my mom would always have someone over to do her (that didn’t sound right) whenever she felt something on her muscles. Sounds like she’s making an excuse to get pampered, right? She would call Rose, her home service masseuse. Because Rose has so many clients calling her every day, she would make our house her last stop because fortunately for her my dad would always have someone to drive her home after.

Her last stop is at 10pm. One hour for mom and one hour for me would turn her into this panic frenzy person who pinchs and karate chops your limbs until you can’t wait for her to end. One time when she was in the middle of running her knuckles down my back at 1030pm, I realized the entire world stopped and I can only hear her breathing hard. I opened one eye (we all pretend to fall asleep to avoid convo, right?) and snuck a glance at her. The silly old nut is dozing off! Hands poised on my back, she was breathing hard with her eyes closed! Multi-tasking, the sneak! The muscle on my shoulder twitched and she fluttered her eyes open. When she realized where she was, she continued kneading on my back as if nothing happened.

That was a trip.

I haven’t seen Rose in 7 years now.

Candy’s Tartufo

When we were in Cagayan de Oro last February, we had our usual stopover at Candy’s. Love this Tartufo. The outside is made of frozen chocolate and the inside is made of ice cream cake. Sinful. :)

//updated with photos

Last weekend, when my friends from work decided to conquer Cagayan de Oro, I told them to check out the white water rafting adventure because after the flood, they can “raft” their way to Limketkai, Opol beaches or Gaisano City. Of course it was a bad joke but they did arrive in Cagayan de Oro on the same day I did and yours truly felt it was my compunction to show them around.

Adios, 2008.

January 15th, 2009 Kristine Roa Posted in Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Surveys No Comments » 64 views

Got this from IYA.

Where did you begin the year 2008? Sinulog, of course. Started the year with the best festival in the Philippines. I was in Cagayan de Oro with the folks for New Year’s Eve then flew back to Cebu the next day. :)
What was your status by Valentines Day? Single.
Were you in school anytime this year? Not anymore. I’ve thought about enrolling something to pass the time but it never happened. Haha.
Did you have to go to the hospital? Oh, yes. Somewhere mid-2008. May.
Did you gain or lose weight? Lost.
What food did you get to eat the most? Lechon. Lechon. Ah, lechon.
What alcoholic beverage did you get to drink the most? Bailey’s. December 2008 at Noel’s Christening party for Nyte.
What was the best thing someone ever did for you this year?
Be a best friend.
What movie was your favorite this year? I don’t remember! What is wrong with me? Haha. I’m hardly a movie goer so when I leave the theater I feel like there is no difference.
Ever been a fight this year? Lots! Fist fight. Slap the fish kind.
Did you have any encounters with the police? No. Thank God.
Where did you go for vacation? Beaches in Cebu.
What did you purchase that was over 100 dollars? my iPod touch. Oh, wait, my mom did. Oops.
Did you know anybody who got married? Geoffrey Namalata.
Anybody who passed away? Heidi. Dec 2008.
Attend any sporting events? None.
What concerts or shows did you go to? Kaskade! Haha. Fashion shows. Veyga shows.
Describe your birthday: FUN! White Night Party at Zcrets Bar. Thanks to my friends who came!
Your favorite moment(s): Beach hopping from San Rem to everywhere.
New additions to your family: Just three of Tiara and Hugo’s babies: Tombo (RIP), Pook and Kiara.
What was your best month? April I guess with the endless beach parties. I didn’t sport a tan though nor even learned to swim but it was the entire experience of being with your girls that counts.
Made any new friends? very much and kept old ones, too.

Other than home, where did you spend most of you time? At the workplace, in Cagayan de Oro and all over Cebu.

How old did you turn this year? 26. Bah.

Do you have a New Year’s Resolution? I told myself to never again be anywhere near the hospital unless I am visiting friends or family or just there to have some disorder diagnosed. :)

Have you had any regrets? Never!

Done anything embarrassing? Yeah. Caused a scene at some public place here in the city. *gasp*

Gotten married/divorced? None. :)

Have you watched American Idol? No. And I’m not sorry, too. :)

Have you gotten sick? Oh, I plan to not be sick this year. But yes, got hospitalized last May.

What’s a song that best describes you during the beginning of the year? Just Stand Up by Miley Cyrus and other artists

And by the end of the year? Circus by Britney Spears

If you could give your life to get anything back, what would it be? To have that 105lbs weight I had eons ago haha. How superficial of me. Okay, I would like to have the respect I had for myself and maybe it would have helped with the present relationships that I am now in with my friends and my family.

When it is always good to burn bridges and never anymore look back at the past, there are memories last year that I would like to treasure.

Sinulog 2008. Fun times, people.

The 2008 Gratitude Post

January 9th, 2009 Kristine Roa Posted in Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, La Familia, Red Letter Days No Comments » 68 views

When did Christmas ever mean anything? 14 years of a Christian upbringing, your parent’s scoffing at your denims on Christmas Eve and you suddenly declare December 25 as Holy? Sure, people could just tick you off by asking in all their plastic-faced glory why couldn’t everyday be a December 25. But that’s what they say, too, on Valentines and Thanksgiving. Pooh.

Christmas IS special and the holiday is a perfectly good excuse to get on the next trip to your parent’s city and not feel guilty gorging on that home baked ham.

I wish for the best this year and send off a fervent prayer thanking Him…

  1. for having a job that writers would kill for
  2. …for friends that I would kill for
  3. …for all of my shoeboxes that don’t yield to gravity yet
  4. …for family that you can always go home to during the holidays
  5. …for the second home that could almost buy me a Condo unit with the monthly rent I’m paying for
  6. …for that sweet getaway in Bukidnon when you wanted no other air but nature’s.
  7. …for the arm that is around me when I wake up in the mornings. sweetest thing in the universe, babycoo.
  8. …for the mornings that I wake up asthma-free
  9. …for my grandmas who are still around
  10. …for renewing my relationship with mom – unconditional love at its best.
  11. …for ATMs, credit cards and check books
  12. …for my next door neighbor who’d harass me with her manuscript but wouldn’t think twice about being my In Case of Emergency person
  13. …for the island of Cebu
  14. …for Zero fares.
  15. …for SUNCELL’s unlimited calls.
  16. …for having a pretty cool Manager who doesn’t give a shit about what you do as long as you get to answer her questions at the end of the month…
  17. …for the health insurance that supports my dysfunctional lungs
  18. …for hair clips during those emergency brush offs
