Touchdown Iloilo and Smallville
Describing my Iloilo-Aklan trip is just like poring over a Christmas gift for Richie Rich. Everytime people ask me, “How’s Boracay?“, I get that glazed look in my eye and the rest just follows. I was reminded again of our fateful trip in the first quarter of 2011. Believe me when I say that I have no idea when are the best seasons in Boracay to go to. I just entered my card information and I was ready to leave Cebu in February for the islands. Fast forward 9 months later when our piso-fare promo was about to take place, the boyfriend pored over our tickets and realized that we leave from Cebu to Iloilo then Caticlan. What’s wrong with it? 5 hours is what’s wrong with it! In my haste to grab the piso-fare promo and going cheap (yuck, right, says my bestfriend), I forgot about the difference between arriving in Caticlan airport and Iloilo Airport. Besides the fact that Iloilo airport is absolutely HUGE and new, one has to take the bus from Iloilo to Caticlan Jetty Port.

For a roundtrip fare of P250 for 2 people from Cebu Pacific (jealous!), we arrived at the Iloilo International Airport (ILO) at past dinner time. I didn’t mind the rain though because the boyfriend has a friend in Iloilo who was kind enough to pick us up. Thanks Albert!

Heard of the famous Iloilo batchoy at Ted’s who is 65 years in the business and 34 branches nationwide? Winner!

We were was poring over their chillers. Hihi. Between batchoy and cakes? hmmm.

Our hosts were very nice! Albert toured us around town and even showed us their BPO company in the city. Their language was Ilonggo, of course, and my new friend Ayka sound sooo lambing even when she was already mad at her boyfriend. So cute! And who can forget Smallville?

That place is huuuuuuge, man! It is not easy to walk around in heels. And the original MO2 resto-bar that served the best pizzas in Iloilo was right in the middle of it all. Photo below is a pastry place – I forgot the name, help!

Babe was happy to reunite with past friends from his past life who happen to know the hated ex. Hihi. I just had to say that.

We decided to leave Iloilo by 4am to catch our early check-in time at the hotel in Boracay. From the terminal, the fees were:
ILOILO – CATICLAN via BUS P330
ILOILO – CATICLAN via VHire P430
I know, I know. We were cheap and went with the bus. Iloilo was bitin though (not enough). We could have gone around the city and took photos of the churches, the Custom’s house, the jeepneys, or perhaps go there during Jaro Festival, Dinagyang and then island-hop in Guimaras Islands after. Oh, well, there is always next time.
To be concluded!
