May 15, 2010 – The four hour ride to Maya was not at all pleasant and the province of Maya had powder for land that just piles on your face when the bus passes by it. From Cebu, you can always get on one of the buses at the North BusTerminal.

Checked-in baggage, yes.

When you get to Maya, you will not miss this small store. They sell everything from coke zero sakto size to Vicks.

The boat ride costs about 50. Small boat, huh?

Boat race!

We stayed at Mike’s and Diose’s Cottage in Malapascua. They had huge cottages that can house eight (8) people in it for only P1,800. The thing is, you had to pay an extra P150/person because the P1,800 charge was only good for two. I never did understand it though because the house has one double bed on the first floor and the second floor has two single airbeds and two double beds. Shouldn’t he just have charged the entire place all at one time? It has a kitchenette and one large bathroom, too. I’m pretty sure the guests who stay there wouldn’t mind paying extra for all that space.

These are the restaurants by the sea. So many, so pricey! Hahah.

The complete album is in Multiply and another in Multiply some in Facebook.

Hi! Thanks so much for your wonderful blog. I was wondering if you might be able to suggest a vacation destination for me since you seem to be quite the little jet setter!
I’m going to the Philippines in less than a month (coming from Japan) but I still haven’t decided on where to go. I’m a woman traveling alone so I want to go somewhere relatively safe where I can meet other travelers and young people, or even better, other young people traveling solo (also, hot guys would be a major plus-haha!). I picture myself staying in a little beach cottage where I can tan and relax but also meet new people and have a chill nightlife. Live music is a plus, but I definitely don’t need crowds or clubbing. I was thinking El Nido, but I only have 5 days and it seems like a pain in the butt to get to. Then I looked at Malapascua which seems great but it also looks like it’s mostly for divers and I don’t dive. What do you think? Is there some best kept secret for young people you could recommend? Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I appreciate comments like yours so much. Im glad you decide to visit our tiny island in Asia and yes we do seem to have lot these days. Malapascua is quite the journey its almost half of the entire day.. but everything is virgin and private. No places hardly ever hosts a party or whatever. If you want to escape and just have your “me” time, Id say Malapascua. You don’t necessarily have to be a diver – take me, for example. I don’t dive but the feeling of being in a totally different planet like Malapascua is a different high than diving
Judging from what you said, I’m guessing you are single, too, and will be alone? Sometimes there are places that actually are ideal for us (single women – but I’m in a relationship hihi) and I have to recommend Boracay Island. Google it!! My friends and I are going this May and its my second time. You’ll never get tired in Boracay. People in Boracay are from all over the Globe – all races, etc. You will definitely meet people there. Actually, I’m still finalizing my blog about it – it is quite long and extensive because we took the longer route for added adventure (note: 5 hour bus ride ouch) so yeah.. I hope I get to publish that blog, soon but for now, here are our photos of Boracay. I publicized the albums for you here, here, here, here, and here. Happy viewing!
Let me know how else I can help. I’m no expert but I wish you’d get to love Boracay or any other island in the Philippines. Boracay has three parts, Station 1 is the remotest part because its far and quiet. Station 2 is where the bustle is so because we wanted where the action is by the time we leave our hotel rooms, we stayed at Le Soleil Boracay Resort (beachfront at $110 the least) but if you want a quieter hotel and just walk 5 minutes to Station 2, Station 1 it is!
I hope you are already looking forward to staying here. It is super hoootttttt already!! Happy Summer 2011!

Hi Kristine! Thanks SO much for replying to me! I really appreciate the advice. I kind of had my heart set on Malapascua but I think you have swayed me to Boracay! I’ll let you know what I do in the end, but your pictures have totally intrigued me (you and your bf are so cute, by the way!). Maybe I’ll find my own prince charming in Boracay and never leave, who knows! haha
Can’t wait to see your beautiful country!

Hi Noelle! No biggie! You can go to BORACAY and MALAPASCUA. Boracay is more fun though!
The boyfriend says thanks lol.

Nice photos! Too bad we weren’t able to visit Malapascua or Bantayan island on our recent Cebu trip. We just roamed around the city.

i’ve only been to malapascua once but we stayed in dano beach which was at the far end of the island…so it’s more peaceful actually.
tine, about the instyle cebu guest writer, i would love to do it…however, i’m confused about what to write cuz i actually don’t write too much about fashion and trends…i’m just your average thrifter..hehehe. i’ll PM you in facebook about it.

I have never been to Malapascua due to the restrains of my parents.

Thanks Swweeet!! I try so hard to take the best photos. I can understand your parents a bit because the travel is quite tedious. The place is soooo worth it!!
Isn’t it great we are already past the stage where we always have to tag along with the parentals? When you come back, Malapascua is waiting!
