//updated – with new photos
** sorry guys, Modern Toilet in Mongkok is now closed.
Right after our Hongkong Disneyland visit, the group trooped to Modern Toilet Restaurant in Mongkok, Hongkong.

The famous restaurant is located at 3/F, 240-244 Portland Street,MPM (MTR Exit C4/E1). Below it is COTTON ON by the way and that’s another long shopping story. Hahaha.

The wait staff hardly speaks English. So sad. They should employ those who at least knows how to construct sentences in English.

Yes, the seats are REAL TOILET BOWLS! Argh!

The Modern Toilet Restaurant Menu

I don’t think people go to Modern Toilet to eat ahhaha. We ordered their shabu-shabu meals and were a bit salty for my taste. Their drinks are good! Except that I really haven’t gotten used to the idea of drinking from a uninal.

Cute ceramic dishes toilet shaped

Yes, you drink from a urinal!

Bye Modern Toilet!
About the Modern Toilet Restaurant
We are a group of “muckrakers” following our dreams. It all started when one of us was reading the comics, Dr. Slump on the toilet – and the rest is history. In the beginning, the Modern Toilet restaurant mainly sold ice cream – a big pile of chocolate ice cream sold in containers shaped like a squat toilet. This humorous spin became a great success. After much planning from all of our partners, we finally took the first step towards realizing our dreams in May 2004 with the launch of the “Marton Restaurant”. The restaurant immediately caused a stir in Taiwan with its humorous unique design.
At the start, many people peered in at the restaurant trying to figure out what we were selling – then soon a big smile appeared on their faces when they finally worked it out. By continuing to come up with great ideas and making improvements on old ones, we have expanded over the past few years from just selling ice cream into a fully-fledged theme restaurant with stores all over Taiwan. Our stores have also won the support of devoted fans.

The beauty of these blogging engines and CMS platforms is the lack of limitations and ease of manipulation that allows developers to implement rich content and ‘skin’ the blog in such a way that with very little effort one would never notice what it is making the site tick all without limiting content and effectiveness.
