Sinulog 2009

By Kristine Roa in Cebu City, Social Events 1 views

What a way to jumpstart your 2009 with a Sinulog cum Mardi Gras festival, you think? Sorry for the late Sinulog post but I’ve been stuck with these memes for so long I guess I just had fun typing down something that doesn’t require an entire paragraph to compose.

Friday was Hed Kandi’s social hurrah brought to you by BIGFISH productions and Nokia Music at the CICC hall and man, that place is huge! And the crowd was bigger! People paid for those expensive 15,000 pesos worth of VIP tables and still people can climb up those platforms. But anyway, thanks to Vudu for the invites, I did manage to enjoy all that cream rave party that Andy Daniels, Johnboy Lee and Peyton Christopher brought down. After watching the Hed Kandi girls, I decided for the nth time that I’m going to be as skinny as them and dance my way to house nirvana hahah!
Saturday dragged the cessessss at Alejandros and Vudu. Love the Sinulog crowd! Plus that Will Devaughn guy is the highlight of the night!
Unless you haven’t been conditioned to a weekend full of human traffic, cabs turning you down, and pure agonizing walking, then you are not prepared like the Sinulog soldier that I am on the Mardi Gras day itself. This year was more fun because I was with my favorite girls and babe. Dave no longer had a booth at the Caltex station and Sonia had to take over. It was just the same Sinulog shindig minus the Dave touch and his annual prepaid beer and barbecue.  It almost feel like last year’s Sinulog except the only thing different is the people’s outfits. Even that damned blue city bus was there parked in a primo spot to purposefully block our sight from the merriment that’s going on at the streets. Who cares? We were having fun with or without the bus!
I love this shot!
Caltex Loves! :)

The people I know that day are spread all over: Mango! Caltex! Century Plaza! Crown Regency! City Grill! As much as you wanted to be in all places at the same time, the crowd wouldn’t let you. It takes about 30 minutes to go from one block to the other and the shoulder to shoulder slew of people is too cooperative enough to just PUSH you to get to your destination. How fun is that, eh?

Luckily, thanks to the Gods of the Social Life, Paula who was bent on getting ink on her arms dragged herself to that stressful weekend and managed to join in the craziness. Good for you, hun. Our words before we go to bed, “All in a day’s work!” Hahah.

Sooo… another year to look forward to! My, this is probably the most expensive Sinulog  2009 I have experienced! But it is very much worth it! Till next!
