Pag May Kilat
Our paparazzi moments:
- waiter in Krua Thai holds up the camera and goes, “Okay.. istaydee…” (What daw? Steady?)
- ..or goes, “Raydee…” (Ah, ready!)
- … says, “Okay.. one, two, flash!”
- ….and, “One, two, camera actions!” (heavy emphasis on the S after camera!)
- … or a bitin, “Okay… one, two!”
- and Table 7 waiters love us. They are very eager to take our pictures – especially when taking it with cameras with huge LCDs that even they themselves cannot help but smile at the same time while pressing the shoot button.
- “Say Table Seven Restaurant, Ayala Center, Cebu!” (can you imagine how our mouths would look like?)
- Table 7 waiter named Rj held up the camera and before flashing said, “Okay, say cheese.” Naturally, nobody did so and just kept on smiling. Rj didn’t press the button until anyone of us had to say cheese.
- … or some other idiot will just keep on pointing but not shooting because he doesn’t know that you have to press something to make it flash.
- my favorite idiot is the one who’d press the flash button after minutes of cramped cheeks from smiling and just when you had to go, “Oi, what’s taking so long?” all of your pics would have you either opening your mouth or pointing your finger to the camera.
- the famous cropped head kind of photos from people who don’t know how to angle. What are LCDs for?

the great big issue that was me
I have read Harry Potter and I thought I’ll be busy reading the entire thing last weekend but na backdoor si Harry for the meantime.
Last Weekend, our department had an awarding ceremony held in Ma. Luisa Village and it was tradition that the new ones get to stand up front while the audience fires them random questions. When it was my turn, someone from the back shouted, “Would you go out with me tonight?” Everybody was egging me to say yes. I said, “What time?” Mwahahaha.
I had an emergency date that Saturday night and it was fun. Fun because I got to ride on his big bike without any helmet on and if my dad could have seen me that time his vertigo would act up. Just a date. Relax.
Forward to Sunday where we all had dinner in Ayala for Tin’s despedida. Her mom was around and we were at East, West just like old times except that it’ll be our last dinner before Tin gets to take the bar exam in San Beda. Pooh. I will miss her and our koyas, and bar trips and shopping ruva ruva.
Forward to Monday afternoon where there was 30 minutes before Gloria steps on the podium and talks shit and I was at home, right, and then Tessa called because she needed to de-stress, you know… and then she came, right, and she got this new car care of her Pharmaceutical and came bouncing all over the house saying, “I love it!.” So naturally, I’d feel flattered and let her hog all the bed space she could have. Then Xenia came minutes after, shouting because Mclaren and Ferrari were up against each other at Star Sports. She was decked in her San Carlos uniform and I was thinking, Yuck, green, so Cebu-scandal. Xenia grabbed the remote, right, and started to flip through channels. “Where is Star Sports?” she half-shrieked and I said, “Channel 20.” And right after she did that, ANC came to view and so did the Batasang Pambansa and before she could realize what was happening I grabbed the remote from her.
Oh, yes. Gloria stood in that lovely red gown in front of the lovely crowd. I wonder who made her gown. Can anyone enlighten me? Her makeup by the way is flawless. The shades of her eyeshadow matched her skin. The dress just didn’t cut it since it was too red for Earthy hues. Oh, surely anyone will tire of the usual backlash against her tirades., right, so you’d rather hear how we discussed her taste in makeup? Poor Gloria. I bet she must have readied herself for the anticipated attacks against her speech. What is she talking about! Where does she get her figures? Who does the surveys! Giving kudos to the nation’s best students is just a front!
So yeah, Mclarren won and Tessa gleefully changed it to Cinema One and started mouthing Dina Bonnevie lines and I was left with cooking carbonara for all three of us, right, until Xenia said, “Tin, about that talk show you were on with Kris and Boy?”
I completely forgot. This morning at Boy and Kris, I was at the hot seat, because umiinit na talaga ang issue. Boy was wearing a white trench coat despite the weather and Kris was sitting on a white stool in a frumpy smock that showed how frumpy she still is.
Boy and Kris: So you’re seeing this boy.
Kristine: Hardly!
B&K: How old is he?
K: 1985.
B&K: You mentioned that he is still in school.
K: (rolling her eyes) Yeah… your point is?
B&K: Pangkabuhayan showcase?
K: Aren’t all men are?
Kris: How did you meet him?
K: We knew each other already. Until my friend referred him.
Boy: Ahh… referral program?
K: (laughing) of some sort.
Boy: And the sex is?
K: …….
Kris: Next question, tito Boy. She is blushing already.
Boy: Serioso naba to?
K: As serious as I am with all my relationships.
Boy: Gag?
K: Well, like the rest, screw me once…
Kris: Tama ka jan!
Boy: Why do you like this guy, ba?
K: Sigh. He is so strict ate. And he yells all the time, on the phone. Its so hot.
B&K: Do you think he’s the One?
K: What? I’M The one!
The one great big issue that was me.
