When Everything Happens for a reason

A very suspicious visitor keeps popping up in my friendster. I recognized her through the thumbnail even before I maximized the page. I just don’t understand why she would have a picture of her and Sam in it.

Then I laughed to myself because I remember the shirt Sam had on that picture was the same one in my laundry basket. It must have been an old pic so I opened my profile for her to look at… especially with my pictures of Sam and me in it.

My shoutout says, “You can look at my pictures anytime. Look. Look.”

Hers read, “You can have all of me or nothing.’ Which I thought was way funny because I cannot imagine pimping myself to anyone since I’ve never been the competitive type. Why do you need other women to keep off your man if you are the only woman in his life anyway?

Until I know that it’s not true. I am not the only woman after all.

She opened her friendster profile for public viewing and I wasn’t supposed to take the bait when I saw pictures of her with Sam. And more pictures of her with Sam. And pictures of her with Sam’s sisters – in Paseo, Cebu. Paseo just opened this March and we were already together that time.

She came to Cebu, that fact was obvious. She was with Sam. She came to Sam’s house because there was one picture there that had an illustration of WELCOME TITA in it and it was made by Sam’s nieces and nephews – the same brat squad that I’ve grown to be fond of. She was with Sam in Moalbaol, too, the time I asked Sam where he was and he justified the tan as some election thing in Moalboal.

It hurt. PERIOD.

Because I always believe in the good of everyone. Because I’ve always wanted everyone to be good. Because I’ve always believed.

He taught me things. He taught me not to trust anyone adding you up in Friendster. He told me that its best to think that you are not the only one in someone’s life. He made me patient. He made me understand that people who are controlling have very low self-esteem. He made me realize how weak people can be and how confident they appear on the outside is the complete opposite of how they are inside. He taught me to avoid people like him. Or I’d be punk’d.

Punk’d or not, I’m just sad to say that this story has reached its end. Maybe the whole idea of telling it was jinxed but the story finally can no longer find any way to tell something significant because Sam and Mari are no longer together.

Prodrive’s Pride

If you’re driving at 80 kilometers per hour on the streets and you’re 24 years old, you’re holding on for dear life. If you’re driving at 120 kph on a four-laned road, then you could be caught for street racing.

“Racing around any street without a race track is street racing. Unless you have a race track, then that’s drag racing.” Mike Padero, part owner of Prodrive Racing shop in Camamanan, and of Cagayan de Oro descent, explained the difference. He was referring to the number of cars that line up every weekend at Gusa highway whose drivers are challenging each other on who’s the fastest at street racing.

But any racer always has to start with street racing because that is when he will test his skills, the speed capabilities of his vehicle, and the endurance of both. When your car has turbo charged engines, seatbelts and the steering wheel’s laid bare plus a dashboard that has been stripped out to reduce weight and make the cars more aerodynamic, then you can take drag racing to the next level.

Huzzah for Season Three

I saw singer Erik Santos crying in national television because he is no longer together with his girlfriend, actress Rufa Mae Quinto. Awww… That’s the most romance I have had this week and I felt kilig. Yay?

So I’m back in Cebu and the new job’s more pliant than the old one. Having copyediting, books, publishing, fonts, and themes in one venue is almost like spelling out o-r-g-a-s-m in one sitting. But the company is strict about confidentiality so I’m pretty sure no one from work would appreciate one paragraph on my blog about what I do in detail.

I met a lot of people lately and I’m dismayed that my phone book can only take 500 contacts so I had to *gulp* delete old CVG contacts and PS groups, too. Now I have a lot of X contacts in it: X Henry, X Yvette… etc.

We’ll be working graveyard in the next couple of weeks, too, and sigh, so long for sleeping at night. I will need to cover those windows again.

Hmm… that’s the most highlight I have this week because Xenia finally is in Cebu, too, and we were already conjuring a year long itinerary to Bohol, Mactan and all the beaches here. She’s heartbroken because her boyfriend of nine years cheated on her for a half-German, half-shepherd girl that’s why she moved from Siliman to go study in San Carlos. Xenia bitter on this lost love – gahhh… I hope I won’t be influenced by her, “Tin, men are the shhiiit. Never, ever, fall prey on those that take advantage of your heart.” Didn’t I just say that I have no sympathy for lost loves?

The Friday group, composed by Bong, Tessa, Anton, Rj, and Xenia went out on a Saturday night and I don’t know which part Xenia meant about men being the shit but she was already finding my cousin interesting and was soon exchanging saliva in public several hours after cherry shots. Apparently their tongues sort of happened to tie itself to a knot that someone else had to drive us home because They. Are. Inseparable.

What is with relatives and your friends dating? I should extend my network, shouldn’t I? Too bad friendster can only house 1000. Continue reading »
