Playing with Basketball Players

One of my girlfriends came to the house last Sunday and claimed that she broke up with her boyfriend who happens to be a cousin of mine. Nondisclosure is appropriate. She was sorry she did it and now she wants to take it back. Because she’s miserable, I had to take her out of the house or else the entire neighborhood would be flooding with her tears. We started with drinks at The Loft to meet with Joanne and Aina then headed to Bed at Mango Hotel  where Joan has some basketball player friends for us to meet. Hmm. I seem to be with players lately.
That waitress in Bed is one huge cow!
She bitched that we took forever to finish our drinks and we are holding her up. The rate that she’s at, I’m not expecting any hot guy waiting for her to get off from work. The hotel closes at 12 and since our drinks weren’t done she started talking to her co-waiter in a voice that suggested she was talking to a party of 10.
“i don’t understand what’s taking them so long to drink, these men are huge they can drink the entire thing in minutes!”… “i swear, they absolutely have no consideration at all!”… “don’t they realize we’re not getting paid for staying overtime just to wait for them to be done?”…. “oooh, i’m sooo ready to go homee!”
We finished our drinks. One red horse bottle lay spilled on the table. We gave her 50% more than the bill and told her this is for her time overstaying. She finally shut up. By the way, her name is Beverly.
We went to Pump to get some dancing action and isolated ourselves at the VIP lounge. I hooked up with this Chinese guy, who, yes, plays basketball. The guy was the same age as I am yet is still Nursing school. I can almost hear my friends chanting, “Charity case! Charity case!”
I got to meet the famous Ronnie M. who is known for his tattoos from Maanyag Shop in Ayala. My tattoo was done by my friend Alboom who charges less than Ronnie, however, I told him I’d still go to Alboom even if I’d known him earlier because he makes people pay 2,000 the minimum. Maybe he’ll consider doing yours for less. He did my ex-boyfriend John Hall’s. Hahha. :)
      The Havaianas Make-Your-Own-Havaianas flip-flopped.
      Literally. Pun intended.

One, they only gave out the basic colors. Two shades of green, one shade of red. :(
     Two, there were no wedges.
Three, the only buttons they have for dressing it up are Philippine flags in green plate and the silver buttons. No crystals, nothing to embellish on. Boring, disappointing. Sayang. I wanted to come up with a very unique pair of purple and gold. Tsk tsk.

Just something from this week. At Don Hen’s for lunch lang.

World Trade Center

  1. I’m bleeding internally from all that drama. I think I cannot sit for another minute seeing that torture of being trapped in the debris.

  2. The attempt to visualize Sept 11 through a micro lens isn’t tantamount to the macro tragedy it caused.

  3. Hearing the news of the tragedy in several languages made the cable tv the God of information feeding the world of the somber news.

  4. I credit Oliver Stone for coming up with the challenge of incorporating the documentary clips into the movie without overtly stressing on politics even how much he insists that it isn’t a political movie.

  5. How the Marine officer went all the way to help the victims made me think if Filipinos would do the same thing had the exact situation happened.

  6. And if Filipinos were the ones hovering over the wives or anyone who is related to anyone who is a victim of the collaspe, the entire barangay would be at one house and the guest will be serving refreshments while the entire crowd stays plastered in front of the television. Text messages will be spammed asking for prayers and volunteers for help because there isn’t enough military equipped enough in our country to handle anything like it.

  7. The movie is a conveyance of the extent of human endurance under the most traumatic predicament.

  8. Stone treads on Christianity by casting Jesus carrying a water bottle. Somehow that was excessive.

  9. World Trade The Movie has been personalized yet casting Nicholas Cage’s sensationalized it. But then again, Oliver Stone has always been known not to sell his casting short as presented from last 1991′s JFK The Movie which of course he has had Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman and Donald Surtherland to name a few.

  10. …which means that had it been any other movie, like say, some other disaster, would viewers respond to it differently?

  11. Why did Jay Hernandez as Pezzulo had to die early? He was cute. Sniff. (See what Stone gets if he has these actors as casts? We lose focus.)

  12. Maggie Gyllenhall’s character was very mature and strong.

  13. Frank Whaley, the former paramedic’s character was underused.

  14. Michael Shannon’s, Sgt. Karnes the marine officer, was exaggerated. He came up creating a Terminator-esque scene walking through the debris and emphasizing the need to help. What lacks is the light emanating behind him and alleluia songs.

  15. The movie was supposed to showcase American’s heroism but it fell short compared to Paul Greengrass’ United 93 because of its big name actors and exaggerated storylines.

  16. The movie actually made me cry. Thrice.
